Michelle Carter’s Lawyers to Ask to Extend Stay on Her Prison Sentence
Page 1 of 1 • Share
From The Boston Globe
Stay her sentence? Are you kidding? This girl continuously egged on her boyfriend to kill himself until he did. Like I said in a previous post, she might as well have killed him with her own hands. Why keep her from the prison sentence she was rightly convicted of and so duly deserves? I believe this is nothing more than legal wrangling that is only delaying the inevitable. As for the sentence itself, I also believe that 15 months is not enough for what she had a hand in doing.
Just Saying.
Danny McDonald of The Boston Globe wrote:
Lawyers for Michelle Carter, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for her role in her boyfriend’s 2014 suicide, are planning to push to extend the stay to her 15-month prison sentence as they petition the US Supreme Court to take up the case.
Joseph P. Cataldo, an attorney for Carter, said he would ask a judge to extend the stay at a hearing on Monday.
“There’s a legal issue worthy of appeal that should be decided and answered fully before we incarcerate somebody,” Cataldo said Friday.
The stay extension, he said, would be “only a matter of months.”
Prosecutors, meanwhile, are asking a judge to order Carter to start serving her sentence.
