Kanye West and 13th Amendment
Page 1 of 1 • Share
Welcome to BETHEA'S BYTE: FREE BYTE. I thought I heard it all. Now I hear that Hip Hop star Kanye West, an avid Trump Supporter, wants to see the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States repealed.
Yes, I have printed this correctly. Kanye West (who decided recently to change his name to Ye) wants to see the 13th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States repealed. For the record, the 13th Amendment reads as follows:
Really? Slavery in disguise?
Ladies and gentlemen, this is why we should have our kids staying in school. Learn it all, American history and African-American history. If Ye were paying attention, he would know that slavery was not, as he once said "a choice". If he paid attention, he would know that blacks were bought, sold and traded like goods. We were not recognized as human beings because of our skin color. He would also know that after a speech by President Abraham Lincoln (The Gettysburg Address), the 13th Amendment was ratified to end slavery. If you go to prison however, that provision does not apply. It says so in the Amendment (see quote).
Now, I'm not blasting Kanye (his mama named him Kanye, Imma call him Kanye) for supporting Donald Trump. That's his right. What I'm blasting him for is not knowing the history that lead to the 13th Amendment. If you're gonna be an advocate, do yourself a favor, read up on your history folks. Don't just come out saying "Stay woke" without knowing your history.
The more you know, the more easier it will be when you decide what's right and what's wrong.

Ye thinks that the 13th Amendment is slavery in disguise. The 13th Article of Amendment to the Constitution of the United States wrote:Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
